Erythrina crista-galli
Common Name: Coral Tree
Deep red flowers (like waxy sweet peas) in racemes up to 60cm. long, from summer to autumn. The branches and leaf stalks are spiny so plant away from pathways! Grown in this country as a woody perennial. Protect crown in winter with mulch. Needs a sunny position and the protection of a wall a good idea. Very dramatic. 1 - 1.5 metres.
