Colutea orientalis
Common Name: Bladder Senna
These easily grown shrubs have bluish-green pinnate leaves. In summer they produce attractive copper-red pea shaped flowers with yellow markings followed by pale brown 5cm long inflated seed pods, which give them the common name 'Bladder Senna'. They need a sunny position, but will tolerate poor dry soils and coastal conditions.
