Agave americana
Succulent with spines on the edge and the tip of grey-green leaves. Makes a large clump in the garden or can be used in a large container, which will slow the growth.
Some confusion about hardiness - we have no problems on the nursery and we do not fleece them in our chilly unheated open ended tunnels. They do give a very exotic look. Sunny sheltered position. Winter protection required in cold areas.
